Bon Appetit Baby!

So early in February I attended the NYIGF here in NYC. Mostly to see friends from around the country but also to see what's new out there in the marketplace. One of the products I was taken with, although I must admit I found them very expensive, was this bamboo Table Manners Set from FUNFAM, a Japanese company. The bamboo is food and dishwasher safe, the design is elegant and minimal, and above all I love that it teaches babies and children from the youngest age about good table manners, setting the table, and using utensils properly. I'm a big proponent of spending time at the dinner table together and eating with respect for those around you. Now, back when I was a kid this was strictly enforced and you learned it the hard way. So how great to teach your kids in a natural and organic way from the earliest of ages - it's like a big puzzle! So if you are looking for an extra special baby gift for a lucky little newborn then here it is!!! It's hard to find in the US and retails for about $140 but it is for sale through http://www.eco-friendly-japan.com/product/28. Bon Appetit!

Keeping time

As they say, time flies when you're having fun (or working all the time), I can't believe that it's Wednesday already again. But no worries because I have a huge long list of things I want to share. For some reason I have a real penchant for clocks. I seriously think I have a wall clock in every room in my house. It's kind of like shoes and handbags but even more inexplicable because I really don't want to be a slave to time (I have no problem being a slave to fashion). My guess is that I love the graphic nature of the clock and am fascinated by different designers takes on a very simple form. I love the work by Pilot Design which was an Etsy find. I bought one for my dining room and love it, if you're looking for a colorful modern focal point for any room then be sure an check them out!

Greetings from the snowy Hudson Valley! It's coming down fast - almost 6" already. I have so many cool things to share so it was hard to pick the first one. I settled on this necklace from designer Alison Bear because it is one of the newest pieces in my collection and I was really taken with her work when I met her this past September in Atlanta. Since sewing is a favorite hobby of mine, seeing her combine fabric with silver really piqued my interest. Believe me, I see alot of jewelry so I'm kind of jaded but the modern, whimsical nature of her work resonated. You can see more of her work on her website and you can find her work for sale at beehiveshop.com. Hope you liked it - catch you again next week with another delightful dish!

Welcome to cherry pick't! Every Wednesday starting next week I'll post a favorite find and I'll tell you why I love it. It's not rocket science I realize, but it's fun. Like candy without the calories. And yes I do have a store that sells handmade goodies from independent designers. And yes, some of my pics will be beehivers but many will not be. It's just luscious things that I covet that are made with integrity, care, and love.
